To me
the most efficient method is to listen a lot and listen every day from TV shows
to VOA news, from daily conversations to academic lectures. While listening I
take notes. The book TOEFL iBT of Barron has many interesting tips for
listening such as take notes only important ideas, use symbols to write fast,
make relationships between ideas, divide the paper into 2 columns
You can listen to TOEFL practice on Youtube and other websites. It’s better to
practice to listen to several types of Academic lectures. Lectures and news on
VOA are very good to learn listening if you have the beginning or intermediate
level of English. If you have the advance level, you should listen to other
sources where speaker talk mush faster.
Some TOEFL books have many topics to practice listening. I listen to some TV channels
every day. The channels I watch are CNN, ABC, NHK, CNBC.
